Beginning of 2012

When The Ex was picking up the kids one Friday, Husband asked about switching weekends.  Without even listening to why, The Ex said no "because Husband never switches with her." ( Back to second grade again ) Husband explained it was because Daughter's best friend was having her birthday party at a water park; he wanted to switch so that Daughter wouldn't miss the party.  The Ex looked at Daughter and said, "Well, do you want to go?" ( Why would we ask if Daughter didn't want to go? )   We had a hearing in February.  The Ex was still trying to get her child support lowered because she had been "unable" to work while pregnant.  Since she had a pending motion filed, Our Attorney sent a subpoena for her work information and found out that The Ex was earning almost $3/hour more than when the last child support order had been set.  We filed a counter-motion to increase child support and requesting that The Ex help pay variable expenses ( The Ex...

Christmas 2011

The Ex's dad was still hit or miss with his health; he had gotten a blood clot and the doctors thought they may have to amputate his foot, then they thought maybe only his toes, then they thought maybe his leg.  The poor guy had been through a lot in the last two months.  They let him leave the hospital from out-of-state and come back home, where they continued to monitor his leg.   Three days before Christmas, The Ex calls and says she wants to pick up the kids early.  Husband says no, he likes being able to say goodbye to them before they're gone so she could pick them up at 5pm.  The Ex gets angry ( Is anyone shocked by this anymore? ) and tells Husband she's going to show up at the school.  Husband tells her that no, she will not.  The Ex says she will come to the school and bring the police with her ( That won't mortify the kids in front of all of their friends or anything ) because the court order reads that she gets the kids as soon as t...

Fall of 2011

The Ex's mom called us just after 6am on a Sunday morning and asked Husband where the kids were.  Husband told her that Son was at a friend's house and Daughter was sleeping.  She asked him to wake the kids up ( No, honest )  Husband asked her why; she said they had a new baby brother. ( Let me get this straight:  our son is born at 5pm at night, we call to tell the kids their brother is born, you won't even let the kids call us back and tell them yourselves that our child was born.  Yet your kid is born at 5 something in the morning, you call us immediately and want us to wake the kids up so you can tell them?  Yeah...sounds balanced )   Son finished football, even made a touchdown at his last game!  The kids mentioned that their neighbors had moved out, the same neighbor that allegedly "watched" the kids while The Ex and Boyfriend went to work.   One day in October, The Ex called and left Husband a message saying she wanted to talk...

Football 2011

Husband had told The Ex back in May that Son wanted to play football so we were going to sign him up.  The Ex never said anything about this, positive or negative.  Son was with us the night of the first football meeting, so he and Husband attended and were given a schedule.  Son was going to have practice Monday through Thursday from 5pm to 7pm, and all the games were on Saturdays.  Husband called The Ex and left her a message saying he wanted to discuss Son's football schedule.   The Ex called back and said she wanted to talk to the kids.  Husband told her he would put the kids on the phone, but wanted to first discuss the football schedule.  The Ex said she wasn't going to bring Son to practices because they were too far away and she "didn't have any money" ( But she's having another baby ).  Husband told The Ex that Son had to attend practices or he wouldn't be allowed to play.  The Ex then said she didn't have to take Son becaus...

Summer starts

One day at the end of April, Husband went to talk to The Ex when she came to pick up the kids.  He started telling her which weeks he wanted in the summer ( Court order gave him two non-consecutive weeks of placement during the summer; order read that if that weekend fell on The Ex's weekend, they would switch.  Order said they had to let each other know which weeks they wanted no later than May 1st of each year. )  Husband started saying which week he wanted as his first week, when The Ex interrupted him and said, "I'm not switching with you.  You never switch with me." ( We are in second grade now )  Husband says there's no switching, that the order gives him two full weeks in the summer and he was just letting her know which weeks he wanted.  After she left, he realized he never finished telling her which weeks he wanted, so he sent her a text message letting her know which weeks would be his.  The Ex didn't respond to the text, so Husband s...

Easter 2011

The Ex called Husband on Thursday night at almost 6pm, left him a message asking to call her back.  Husband didn't get the message until later, so The Ex called him again a little after 9pm.  The Ex said she wanted to pick the kids up in the morning.  Husband told her no, they had school.  The Ex said, "Well, I know a lot of kids that go to parochial school ( Name one.  I dare you. ) and they all have off tomorrow." ( This is how uninvolved she is with her children's school.  She assumes they have Good Friday off, calls the night before and wants to change the schedule because she doesn't realize that they do, in fact, have school )  Husband repeated that the kids had school so they could not be picked up in the morning.   Easter Sunday, Husband called The Ex around 4:20pm to find out if the kids were getting picked up at her place in New City or at her parents' place in Hometown; The Ex said they could get picked up in New City and then ...

Start of 2011

Before we dive into 2011, let me backtrack a couple of months.  We didn't get the kids the weekend that our city had trick-or-treating, The Ex did.  Come to find out that the kids spent the entire weekend with The Ex's parents because The Ex had laser eye surgery that weekend. ( Instead of scheduling it on a weekend that we were going to have the kids, she scheduled it on a weekend that she would have the kids. )  The weekend after her surgery, her mom calls Husband and says the kids will probably be coming with them again for the weekend because The Ex is sick.  Husband says if she's that sick, then maybe he should just keep them.  Her mom says, "Well, she's not really sick.  Her eyes are hurting." ( Another weekend not spent with the kids.  Yet when Husband doesn't agree to certain schedule changes, The Ex yells about how she never gets to see the kids and wants to spend more time with them.  What? )  Husband casually asks her about ...
