Baseball 2009

Even though The Ex lived in New City, she was going to put the kids in baseball in Hometown.  Tryouts were on a Saturday morning that happened to be on Husband's weekend.  The Ex originally said that she couldn't make it because tryouts were "too early."  When we got to Hometown, Husband learned that Son's tryout had gotten pushed from 9am to 10:30am.  Husband called The Ex to tell her the time was delayed and she could still come to see Son try out.  The Ex did not show up.  ( Fine, it was only a "tryout" so it wasn't really vital.  But don't make an excuse about it.  If you don't want to come, then don't come, but don't lie to your kid about you being a parent fail )   On Baby Girl's birthday, The Ex left Husband a voicemail:      “Hey [Husband], it’s me [The Ex]. I have  told  you before: I need another number to call you! ( No, you really don't )  ‘Cause you don’t answer your phone ( He doesn't wait...

Voicemails from 2009

In late January, The Ex left Husband a voicemail:      “Hey [Husband], it’s me [The Ex]. Um, I’m jumping in the shower; I think it’s like, 4:20. And we’re gonna run to Wal-Mart. Um, I’d like to know when you’re gonna be home with the kids, I don’t know if we should wait for ‘em or...we’re only gettin’ a few things that we need for the week, so...if you can give me a call back here pretty quick, or...let me know what’s going on and when you think you’ll roughly be here, so...talk to you later. Bye.” ( Exchange time was 6pm, and had been 6pm since 2005 when they were divorced.  The Ex constantly called on our weekends, asking what time we would be there to drop off the kids.  I can't tell if she was just trying to be annoying or if she is really this stupid )   About a month later, The Ex left Husband a voicemail at 9:15am:      “Hey, this is [The Ex]. Um, I was calling ‘cause I was wondering if you wanted to kinda switch today,...

Voicemails from 2008

In early 2008, one of the kids brought home a folder from their school so we learned where they were attending.  Husband sent a letter to the school with a copy of the court agreement showing that he was supposed to be involved in the kids' schooling; Husband said he did not know where the kids were attending until just recently and would like to start receiving information about the kids' schooling - report cards, letters, etc.  A few days after Husband mailed the letter, The Ex left him a voicemail:      “[Husband], I just got a phone call from the principal at the school saying that you want paperwork from the kids. ( ...okay, and? )  I don’t understand how hard it was for you just to give me your address and zip code and everything, so I could do it. ( Because you've been living in New City for 6 months now.  The school should have had this information since Day 1 )  Principal actually laughed at it and said that that’s all you needed...

Voicemails from 2007

So far, I've tried to keep the blog in chronological order.  I've left out certain things so give you a general idea of the insanity we have to deal with.  Now I'm just going to start posting things that happened during different periods.   The first year, I figured it was just typical baby mama drama; nothing out of the ordinary, nothing that was any more crazy than anything else that other people go through.  We didn't document a lot then, because what was the point?  The Ex was bitter, she was jealous and she was going to make our life difficult because of it.  Nothing was going to change, at least not from a legal standpoint.   One voicemail I particularly recall from 2006 was when The Ex tried calling Husband; I don't remember why exactly he didn't answer, either we were eating or he didn't have his phone with him.  When he listened to the voicemail, all he heard was, "F*cking [Husband] won't answer his f*cking phone.." while ...

"Things have to change"

After learning that The Ex had a texting number on Friday, Husband sent her a text on Sunday asking if they could switch weekends in December.  The Ex didn't respond.   On Monday afternoon, The Ex's mom left Husband a message saying, "[The Ex's] sister-in-law called me.  She didn't feel like calling you, so I'm calling you. ( Why would either of you call Husband? )"  The Ex's mom goes on about how The Ex wants to know if she's picking the kids up on Tuesday or not until Wednesday for Thanksgiving, and asks Husband to call her.   Husband was at the dentist with Son and Daughter, went grocery shopping afterward and remembered as we were sitting down to eat that The Ex's mom had tried calling him.  Husband sent The Ex's mom a text saying that he had texted The Ex the night before and had emailed her that day.   Apparently, The Ex's mom did not get this text so she called Husband again.  We were eating dinner, so Husband obviously d...

I have no Internet

The Friday before Thanksgiving, Husband gets out of work, turns on his phone and has a text message from an unknown number saying the open wi-fi at the house has been locked, their computer is broken and they don't know who can look at it for free, and any emails since the last one they sent to Husband haven't been read.  Then they say they want to know if they can pick up the kids early on Tuesday.   Husband texts back later that day and asks who it is. ( We've both had the same phone numbers for 10+ years but we still get "wrong number" texts )  The person texts back: "It's [The Ex]." ( ?? )  Husband asks when she got a new number; The Ex says she didn't get a new number, this number is for texting only, someone found it for her for free.  The Ex goes on to complain about how they sometimes get messages hours late or even the next day, sometimes they don't get the whole message if it's long.  "Not reliable but all I have" ...

It Runs In The Family

Let's skip back one day.  The night before Son hurt himself, The Ex left Husband a message at almost 9pm saying that her dad was picking up the kids for her that Friday ( Because she is just sooo busy working part-time, she can't possibly come to get her own kids )  The Ex says that her dad wants to know if he can pick up the kids "a little bit earlier" and says a little bit means "a half hour, if not an hour earlier" ( Not what I would consider "a little bit" but okay. )  Husband didn't get time to call The Ex back, figured he would text or email her the next day.   Then Son got hurt, we went to the hospital and The Ex's parent's drove down.  As we're standing outside of the hospital, The Ex's dad brings up picking up the kids early on Friday.  Husband tells him he's not sure if that will work, he likes to say goodbye to them before they leave.  I say to The Ex's dad also that Husband works until 4pm and then has to...
