Parenting is too much work.

After not logging into 2houses for 10 straight days, The Ex decided that she needed something and sent Husband this message on Sunday night: "Can we please switch the weekend of September 8th with September 15th? Please let me know" ( It always makes me giggle when she uses the same words over and over, like she did here . )   Unfortunately for The Ex, we planned a family outing on the weekend of September 15th.  I literally made the reservations four days before she sent this email.  It was hard enough to schedule and book what we have planned around sports schedules, school, and shared placement.  Quite honestly, I don't want to spend the time and energy trying to reschedule the entire thing just to make it more beneficial to a single person who isn't even a part of my family.   Husband replied and said we already have plans, we cannot switch the weekends and said he was sorry.   Fifteen minutes later: "How about the weekend of October 27th...

Taste of his own medicine.

Not even two weeks ago, Husband and I confronted Son about his lying. ( This was when we took away all of his bonus things, like a phone and a car and a TV. ) Instead of being mature and owning up to what he had done, Son literally looked Husband directly in the eye and lied about lying; he must have thought we didn't know the truth and if he kept lying, he'd weasel his way out of it.  We actually saw the flash in his eye when he realized he was caught and there was no getting out of it.   As that's been explained, Husband and I couldn't stop giggling to ourselves last night because Son posted this to Facebook: "Now I know what it feels like when people lie straight to your face"   Maybe I shouldn't laugh...but I just can't help it  ðŸ˜‚

This voicemail embodies her.

Daughter has complained before that The Ex nags them about "spending time with her" but when they're in Tiny City, The Ex is spending all of her time with Ned ( Just like she did ten years ago when she had custody; she'd leave the kids with her parents and run off with Boyfriend for who knows how long and her parents got tired of it. )  A few weeks ago, Son had wanted to go to a water park with his girlfriend.  While Son was gone, The Ex called him and left this voicemail at 3:19pm: "[Son], I just drove by, twice now in the last hour. ( I'm assuming she was saying she had driven past his girlfriend's house. )  And....both those vehicles are there!  Are you at [name of water park], or what?! ( The Ex is now accusing Son of lying to her about where he is.  Which I suppose isn't that hard to believe considering Son's behavior lately, particularly when he's with The Ex. )  I guess I'm to the point where I'm starting to get upset. ( Abo...

Daughter likes to talk.

Friday night, we talked to Son and explained why we were taking things away from him.  We then went and talked to Daughter and told her that Son had lost his phone for lying, so if they went back up to The Ex's house-   Daughter interrupted and said, "Don't let him leave?"  Uh, no.  I told her that if The Ex wants to let him leave her house, I have no control over that and it's not my business; however, Daughter was not to let Son use her phone.  He lost access to his for a reason.  Daughter said she understood.   That same night, I was driving Daughter over to her friend's house for a sleepover.  She started saying that she didn't know if The Ex is going to let Son out of the house anymore.  I asked why The Ex wouldn't let Son leave.  Daughter said that Son has been pretty bad lately up at The Ex's.  Daughter said that one day, Son wanted to go to his girlfriend's house; The Ex allowed him to go and told him to be hom...

Dropping the hammer.

Anyone who has ever been around a teenager knows how moody and indecisive they can be.  This is why children aren't allowed to make decisions in family court matters; they will "hate" one parent one day and "hate" the other parent the next, and would constantly be moving back and forth.  Children can express their opinion to their guardian ad litem, but it's ultimately up to the parents; if they cannot agree, then it's up the the guardian ad litem to assess the situation, make a recommendation, and then the judge will rule what he/she sees as the best choice for the child.  Anyway...that's not the point of this blog post.   Son signed himself up for football this past spring before the school year ended.  For a recap on how The Ex has reacted in previous years, read this .  There was a football activity scheduled Sunday night, and football camp was scheduled from Monday through Friday of this week.  We bought Son new cleats, took him in for a...

Karma, live and in color!

Daughter told us about Ned proposing to The Ex.  I simply said, "Oh...okay," because her personal life isn't anything that I have any control over.  My only question was, "How do you and [Son] feel about it?" ( You know, something any normal parent would have asked their child or children before planning on getting married again. ) Daughter sighed, said she didn't know how she felt about it, and said it was "too much work to think about it." Eventually she said she was happy for The Ex because she was happy about the engagement. ( So, she's not really happy that her mom is marrying Ned but she's not going to object. ) She also made a comment at some point that was along the lines of, "They're gonna be engaged forever."   Now, here's where the fun starts.  I've mentioned in the past that Ned has a son, and I've already said that my assumption is that when this relationship goes to hell in a hand basket, The Ex...

Oh, have mercy on us all...

Ned has very foolishly asked The Ex to marry him.   I'm predicting that within the next 2 years, she will convince him to adopt the two kids she had with Boyfriend.  Then when she leaves him, she can still collect child support.   It's just a constant circus, I swear...
