Ned.

Husband's and/or my interactions with Ned have been extremely limited and short.  We've never really talked to him about much so we've never really gotten to know him.  Most of what we know about Ned is whatever Daughter tells us.   Daughter hasn't kept it a secret that she doesn't like Ned, she doesn't consider Ned to be her parent, and that she doesn't think that The Ex should be with Ned.  Have you ever seen that e-card that says, "Once you hate someone, everything they do is offensive.  'Look at this bitch eating those crackers like she owns the place.'"?  I feel like that's the level that Daughter is on with Ned.  While I don't think it was right for him to make fat jokes about her, I wonder if he truly just clueless and didn't understand how that would be offensive.   The day that our grandson was born, we spent quite a few hours with/around Ned.  He was....very nice, actually.  He initiated conversation with Husband...

Bills, bills, bills.

If you've just started reading, or perhaps those of you who read it but forgot, I blogged years ago about how money is always the driving factor with The Ex. You can read all about it here .  Also, keep in mind that blog post was over five years ago so countless things have happened since then which haven't been summarily documented in the same manner.   Earlier this week, Daughter commented about going in for a dental exam and asked about getting her wisdom teeth removed.  I told her I didn't know what to say about that because Husband had repeatedly asked The Ex when she would have her half of the money to get Son's removed when he was still at home with us; I told Daughter that The Ex would read the messages and ignore Husband.  ( Knowing how she tried to weasel out of paying $14.80 for basketball shoes on the basis that she "never agreed to it," I have no doubt she would have fought tooth and nail over having to pay back almost $500 for one bill ...

Just happy news today ❤️

Husband and I became grandparents this weekend. The baby is one of the most beautiful things I've ever laid eyes upon.   No drama right now, just happiness. I'll update you all later ❤️

Honestly, I'm more Daughter's mom than The Ex will ever be.

Daughter called The Ex on Thursday night and said she wanted to go to the boys' basketball game that was on Friday night.  The Ex agreed to pick her up from the game but wanted Daughter to pay for her to get in. ( I said out loud, in front of Daughter, "That's the tackiest thing I've ever heard of, to ask your child to pay for you." )   Friday morning, Daughter said that The Ex asked if Daughter was going to sit with her during the game; Daughter said she was going to sit with her friends, but she guessed she could sit with The Ex.  She said that The Ex said she was also bringing Ned with her; Daughter said that the two of them could sit together.   Friday night, some of our neighbor's daughters also went to the basketball game.  The daughters came home and told their mom that The Ex "doesn't seem very nice."  All I can figure is that The Ex must have been in a bad mood about something, and was once again projecting her anger onto Daughte...

I'm sorry, he said WHAT?

Once again, I apologize for not blogging about this.  I really thought that I had but apparently not.   Daughter came back from The Ex's after Thanksgiving and she started talking about the holiday.  She said that everyone had come to Ned's house for Thanksgiving, so they had set up extra places for everyone to sit.  Daughter said she had been sitting on a rickety bench that was questionable to being with.  At some point, she went to stand up and the bench broke; Daughter said when the bench broke, she fell down and "hit her boob on the counter."  So not only was she embarrassed that she fell, but her chest hurt also.  Daughter told us that Ned thought this was the perfect opportunity to make "joke" that went something like, "Way to go and break the bench, fatass."   ........Daughter is not fat.  Daughter is not chubby.  Daughter is not big-boned.  Daughter doesn't carry around a few extra pounds.  Daughter...

It's that time of year again.

Daughter's team is making plans to attend the girls' state basketball tournament.  Once again, the tournament is on The Ex's weekend and it's right around her birthday.  If you need a refresher as to how well The Ex handled this the first time around, click here .   Daughter has already been talking about going to state this year, how she's so incredibly excited, how she can't wait.  I asked if there was something happening this year that she was particularly excited about; she said no, she just loves going every year.  I asked her if I was also going again this year; she said, "Of course you are!"  I laughed and said okay, I just wanted to make sure; I didn't want to assume that I was going and just invite myself.  Daughter said no, she was planning on me going with them the whole time.   On January 28th, Husband sent this email with the subject "State basketball tournament": "[Daughter's] basketball team is attending the...

The Baby Shower

Friday night, Son stopped at our house.  He had come down to pick up our neighbor's son for the weekend and stopped by us.  I showed him everything we had bought for them and told him to just act surprised on Sunday when they opened it all because let's be honest: the girls are the ones who really care about the presents.  He said he was happy we bought them a mobile because Girlfriend "really wanted one of those."   Son then said, "Um, so I guess Mom( The Ex ) is bringing Jell-O shots and liquor to the shower?"  Husband and I both stood there and didn't say much.  Son made a face, looked between both of us and asked, "Like...is that even okay?" ( I'm going to be petty and remind everyone that the court order still reads that The Ex is not to consume alcohol during her placement periods.  That was entered because she was given a citation for giving alcohol to teenagers, who later told the cops that she traded them liquor for babysittin...
