Her "family"
This was The Ex's year to have the kids on July 4th. They all went to watch fireworks and she had one of her family members take a picture of her and Ned with their collective five children. She then posted this picture online with the caption, "My family!"
Now, some of you might think this is a nice sentiment; you might think that they're making a blended "family" work. I, on the other hand, have been exposed to The Ex's poison for just over a decade so I know it's only a matter of time before this "family" unit is dissolved and The Ex has moved on to her newest partner. If you think I'm being catty, let me break down for you the evolution of The Ex and her "family":
2000-2001
"Family" is The Ex, Husband, and Son. Not a strong marriage, lots of arguing and separation; at times The Ex's "family" consisted of only herself and Son. While on an upswing, Husband and The Ex decide to have another child.
2002
The Ex files for divorce while nine months pregnant. Daughter is born, Husband and The Ex reconcile at the hospital. "Family" is now Husband, The Ex, Son and Daughter.
2002-2005
More fighting, more separations. The Ex files for divorce a second and a third time. "Family" bounces between three and four people. During one of the multiple separations, The Ex suggests having another child together even if they're not in a relationship; Husband tells her that she is crazy.
2006
Family is The Ex, Son and Daughter. Occasionally includes whoever she is dating at the time, but there is nobody long-term.
2007
Family is now The Ex, Son, Daughter, and Boyfriend. The Ex tells both kids that Boyfriend is their "new daddy" and/or "stepdad" within 3 months of their relationship.
2008
The Ex and Boyfriend have their daughter; their "family" is now five people.
2009-2010
The Ex loses custody of Son and Daughter to us, tells everyone that it's Boyfriend's fault. A year later, The Ex and Boyfriend get married despite her blaming him for her losing custody of her two oldest children.
2011
The Ex and Boyfriend have their son. The Ex's mom tells me that after the delivery, The Ex had her tubes tied; I say a silent prayer of thanks to the Lord for this mighty blessing to mankind.
2012-2014
Boyfriend and The Ex are still together, until she has an affair with a married co-worker who encourages her to leave Boyfriend.
2015
The Ex leaves Boyfriend, starts dating Ned, and is still sleeping with the married co-worker. The Ex does not file for divorce from Boyfriend until she has already moved in with Ned.
2016
The Ex is now referring to her children, Ned, and his child as "her family."
So forgive me for my cynicism, but the reason behind it is quite simple: The Ex has absolutely no idea what the word "family" means or how one functions.
