She Works Hard For The Money
I blogged a few weeks back about The Ex pushing Daughter to get a job by her; The Ex set up an interview despite Daughter telling her that she didn't want to work at the bank. The Ex told Daughter once she got the job, she'd have to tell Husband that she was going to be late on Fridays due to having to work until 5pm, and that she'd also have to work Mondays so she'd have to leave our house a day early. Daughter said she was going to refuse to go to the interview; I told her to just go but explain what her schedule was because I'm sure that while The Ex was getting the interview set up, she didn't explain that Daughter doesn't live with her full-time.
Daughter grudgingly went to the interview. We asked how it went. Daughter said, "First of all, they shouldn't have spinny chairs in an interview room!" and started laughing. Daughter said she kept turning side-to-side in her chair during the interview; she said the woman interviewing her had been doing the same. Daughter said they talked a little bit about the job itself. Then, Daughter told the woman that she had vacation scheduled from June 28th through July 8th. The woman said, "...well, that's going to interfere with your training." (That sounds like not my problem. Once a year, we make a trip to visit Husband's family out-of-state. The plane tickets were bought four months prior to this interview taking place. I'm not losing money and leaving Daughter behind just so she can get hired for a job that she didn't want to apply for in the first place.) Daughter also told the woman that during the mid-to-late summer and during the school year, she was active in sports and had games usually during the evenings and on some weekends; she also told her that she needed off every other Friday and Monday because that's when she was at our house.
At the end of the interview, the woman told Daughter they'd "let her know." Daughter laughed and told us, "They're not hiring me."
The same day that Daughter was telling us all of this, she went with Husband to pick up dinner and was running her mouth about The Ex. Daughter was complaining that The Ex pushed for her to do this interview at the bank, but said that The Ex "doesn't even have a real job there." Husband asked what she meant by that. Daughter said that The Ex is a receptionist; she's not even a teller. (Thank God for that. She can't even manage her own money, could you imagine her trying to manage everyone else's??) Daughter said that all The Ex did was answer phones at the bank and on the weekends, she made cookies for the customers. (So she's basically getting paid to be a narcissistic Keebler elf.)

About a month ago, Girlfriend was complaining to me about The Ex again. Girlfriend said that The Ex had been making her feel bad for not going back to work yet. (The baby was not even 3 months old at this point.) I asked why it was The Ex's business if Girlfriend was working or not. Girlfriend said because Son "was supporting her." She said Son even told her that he wants her to be a stay-at-home mom, but she's worked since she was 14 and doesn't like sitting at home; she said that she hasn't been cleared by the doctor to return to work yet because she's still having issues from before the pregnancy. I told Girlfriend that I found it pretty hilarious that The Ex was on her ass about getting a job yet she got fired when her youngest was 4 months old and didn't get another job for over a year. Girlfriend said, "Are you kidding me? That bugs the hell outta me. She keeps telling me I need to aply at her bank." (She's such a control freak, it's insane. Why does everyone have to come work where she works? And why the hell does Girlfriend have to rush back to work right away, yet The Ex could sit around collecting unemployment with no qualms about that??)
...I'm not supposed to be laughing at any of this, right? I feel like I shouldn't be laughing, but I can't help myself.
