Happy Thanksgiving, the sequel

Friday evening, The Ex's sister called Daughter to tell her that The Ex was upset.  Daughter asked why; her aunt replied that it was because Daughter didn't call The Ex on Thanksgiving.  Daughter replied, "Well, she didn't call me either.  She has a phone.  It works both ways." (This child is only fifteen years old, yet she is light-years ahead of her mother when it comes to logical thinking.)

Being the bigger person despite being a child, Daughter still tried to call The Ex so she would quit pouting.  Daughter called twice; no answer.  When she called the third time, The Ex's daughter answered.  Daughter asked where The Ex was and her sister said that their mom was right there. (The Ex is complaining to her family that Daughter didn't call her.  Then when Daughter tries to call, she intentionally ignores her.  She's such a cow.)  Daughter asks her sister to put The Ex on the phone.

The Ex gets on the phone.  Daughter says that her sister is saying she's mad.  The Ex complains that Daughter didn't call her.  Daughter replies that The Ex could have called her but didn't. (This is where it starts to get fun.)  The Ex says that two of her sisters said, "[Daughter] is probably too busy having fun with [my name]" and that's why Daughter didn't call. (I honestly cannot imagine this level of insecurity.  She's like a needy, middle school girlfriend...except that she's an adult and this is her child, not her boyfriend.)  Daughter said she wasn't even sitting by me; she even started listing who she was sitting near. (Daughter later told me that she doesn't think The Ex's sisters even made this comment about her having fun with me.  Her exact words were, "[My aunts] wouldn't say that - but [Mom] would.")  They talked for less than a minute and then suddenly, The Ex hung up on Daughter.

Not like, the conversation was over and they said goodbye.  She hung up on her own biological daughter.  Again.

I shouldn't be surprised by this anymore, but I just can't wrap my head around it.  She treats her kids like garbage, then complains that they don't care about her.  It's complete and utter insanity.
