Out with the old, in with the old.
Driving home last night, Daughter got a phone call. She answered it and I could tell that it was The Ex's sister. They talked for a little while and Daughter said, "Well, he's the one that wants to marry her!" Daughter continued talking to her aunt and started complaining about Lucifer, how Ned doesn't discipline him, and she agrees with The Ex that Lucifier doesn't learn anything based on what Ned thinks is disciplining his son.
Daughter told her aunt, as she's told us before, that she thinks that The Ex would have been better off without Ned; she said that The Ex has more problems now than she did before Ned was in the picture. (I don't see how that's possible but then again, I've been aware of The Ex's stupidity for much longer than Daughter has. It's easy to think that Ned is the reason that everything is falling apart.) They talked a little longer about some other things and then hung up.
After she was off the phone, I asked Daughter what was going on with Lucifer. Daughter said that The Ex's sister had babysat for Lucifer because The Ex, Ned, and The Ex's two youngest kids went to see a movie. (Yup. They left one kid behind and took the other two. I'll blog about The Ex taking kids to see movies in a little bit.) Daughter explained that her grandparents' back door comes open so they have something rigged up to keep the door shut. Daughter said that The Ex's sister took the dog out to the bathroom and Lucifer was watching her open the door; when she went to come back inside, Lucifer had locked her outside. Daughter said that her aunt had to pound on the door waiting for one of The Ex's parents to let her back inside. When Ned and The Ex got back from the movie, The Ex's sister told them what happened. Ned decided that Lucifer's punishment for his actions was going to be making him sit outside in the cold for 15 minutes. (This entire situation is so dysfunctional...)
I asked Daughter about her making the comment that Ned was the one who wanted to marry The Ex. Daughter said that Ned had gone over to The Ex's parents' house the other day, crying and saying that he's on the verge of calling it quits with The Ex. (Oh, so it's not just The Ex that's tired of their relationship. He's getting tired of it as well.) Daughter said that The Ex has said she doesn't want to get married again, but Ned wants to. I asked why The Ex said yes when Ned proposed if that's not what she wanted; Daughter said she didn't know. Daughter said they both didn't want to get married again. I pointed out that they both said this, but Ned still asked and The Ex still said yes. Daughter said she didn't know. (I don't think a single person knows what's going on between these two. They're a complete mess.)
Daughter repeated again that she thinks The Ex was better off after she left Boyfriend and before she met Ned. (This is certainly a far cry from The Ex's repeated claims that "her kids love Ned.") She said that now that The Ex was with Ned, she was having a lot more problems with everything. I asked what she was having problems with. Daughter said that The Ex is on anti-depressants now. (When we took Son in to the doctor after The Ex told him he had depression, she told the doctor that she had previously been on anti-depressants "after the divorce." I'm not positive if she meant her divorce from Husband, her divorce from Boyfriend, or both.) Daughter also said that The Ex has started to hold grudges about things that have happened in the past; I told Daughter that I wouldn't really call that a new thing because of Ned. (She and Husband have been divorced for almost 13 years now. She's still this angry after thirteen years.) Daughter said she didn't know. I asked if The Ex was holding grudges against Ned or what she was referring to. Daughter said, "Just everything, really." (This doesn't sound like what The Ex was saying on Facebook, that Ned is her rock and she's nothing without him. I mean, I knew she was making it up but it's sad to see this delusional picture she's painted disintegrate into the reality that neither one of them are happy.)
So, there we have it. The Ex is still stuck in her cycle of making bad choices which cause her to be unhappy, blaming everyone else for it, doing all the same things over again, and wondering why nothing ever changes.
