Movies: fun for the whole family except when they're not.

Tiny City has free weekly movies that are sponsored by the library.  The Ex was once telling Son that she wished she had them during the week so they could go and do something without spending money.  I don't remember exactly how it was worded, but I do remember that she complained about the "free G** d**n movies" that she couldn't take Son or Daughter to see. (Such a caring, loving way to speak to your child.)

I blogged the other day and had written that Daughter told me that Ned, The Ex, and her two youngest kids had gone to see a movie while The Ex's sister babysat for Ned's son.  Daughter said that Ned didn't want Lucifer to go because the movie they were seeing was "too violent"; they don't allow Lucifer to watch action movies because of him making comments that he's going to kill Ned.

Regardless of whether it was The Ex's or Ned's decision to leave Lucifer behind, I think this is completely horrible on both their parts.  I don't personally believe that video games/TV/movies/whatever else they're blaming is what's causing Lucifer to act like this; it's a combination of Ned's ex-wife acting like a total baby mama, coupled with a lack of discipline and Ned having no spine.  My personal thoughts aside, if they don't want to take him to a movie that's their choice, but it's complete BS to take The Ex's two kids while leaving him behind.  You either find a movie that you can watch as a family, or you don't go.  But to ostracize a child like this....it's not okay.  And Ned is a total asshole to allow his son to be treated like this.

Daughter had told me a few weeks ago that they all went to see a movie.  She said that they didn't know the theater had an age restriction on R-rated movies, and The Ex's younger kids had come along.  From what I can see online, the restriction applies to R-rated movies that run after 6pm; I'm assuming this is for the childless adults who want to watch the movie in silence.

I asked what movie they were going to see.  Daughter said they were planning to see "The Shape of Water" but weren't allowed in, so they watched something else.  This movie sounds interesting to me, but I sure as balls wouldn't take my kids to it regardless of what time it was showing.  Both the sexual and violent content sections were given ratings of "severe" at IMDB.  According to IMDB's "Parent Guide," the sexual content includes:
A sex scene where a woman exposes one of her breasts to a man. We then see the man thrusting into the woman, and his buttocks are exposed. The sexual position is clearly shown. The scene lasts about 10 seconds.
Two scenes of a naked woman masturbating after she lowers herself in a bathtub. The first scene lasts about 5 seconds and the second one lasts about 3 seconds.
Scenes of female full frontal nudity, where the details of a woman's bare breasts and pubic region are clearly visible. This last about 10-15 seconds
Scenes of female nudity, no genitalia is seen due to the water obscuring any view and also a thick pubis, so topless only.

.....THAT'S the movie that The Ex wanted to take her children to see when they are the ages of 9 and 6 years old.

  1. Has Daughter talked to the Ex yet?

    1. I know they talked on the phone for a bit on Sunday when The Ex was bringing Son home. They talked outside for a few minutes after that too. Honestly, The Ex doesn't bother talking to Son or Daughter all that often; then she complains that they never call or text her and how much she misses them.

    2. I bet if Daughter posted on FB and tagged the Ex a bunch of times the Ex would say they’re so close.

    3. Oh, most definitely. Every now and again, The Ex posts quotes about parenting and tags Son and Daughter in it, just so the whole world can see that she's such a goooood mommy. *GAG*
