Things from this weekend.
Last weekend, Daughter and I were talking about having your period. I'm not positive how we got on the topic, but that's irrelevant. In the middle of us talking, Daughter said that The Ex "doesn't like her using tampons." I asked why. Daughter said, "I don't know. She says, 'I was 18 before I used tampons. I always used pads." My mouth got ahead of my brain and I blurted out, "Yeah, well she also had a kid at 18, so..." I immediately apologized for it; Daughter couldn't stop laughing.
Later that same day, Daughter got a phone call from The Ex's younger daughter. She asked if Daughter knew where Son's baby book was. Daughter said no, she didn't. Her sister said that The Ex said they had the baby book for Son & Girlfriend's baby shower, but now they can't find it. (I've got so many questions and comments about this. First, why is a 10-year-old asking where her brother's baby book is? Second, the baby shower was over two months ago; why are we suddenly looking for this book? Third....The Ex lost Son's baby book?? Is any of this actually happening?)
This particular incident didn't happen recently, but I forgot to blog about it so I'll do that now. I've been getting my nails done consistently for almost 4 years now. After sports ended this year, Daughter started getting hers done, also. One of my friends told Daughter that they looked amazing and that she had picked a really great color. A week or so later, Daughter says to me, "You know what I think is funny? [My friend's name] told me that she really liked my nails. [The Ex] saw them and said, 'Ew.'" (Ummm....) I asked why The Ex had said that; Daughter said that The Ex told Daughter that her nails are "too long" and that The Ex doesn't like fake nails.
First of all, my nails are much longer than Daughter's are. I like them that way and I'm still able to function like a normal human being with them at their length, so it's not an issue. Second, quite a few years back one of the kids' phones was recording while they were at The Ex's house; Daughter said something about her nails being short for basketball. The Ex told she ought to grow out her nails and "not have man hands, like [my name]."
Sooo...short nails = man hands, long nails = "Ew." There is no winning with this woman.
