Oh, my heart ❤

Son and Girlfriend are getting their own apartment.  We said we'd come to Tiny City and help them get packed and/or moved.  They ended up moving a little earlier so we took all the kids with us and we went to visit for the day.  We got to Girlfriend's parents' house, helped them load up some stuff, and followed them to their apartment.  We were helping unload stuff and carry it into the house, setting things up, and cleaning little things here and there.  I also brought lunch which is one of Son's favorites.  Son commented that I was "the first person to cook in their kitchen," like he was so happy we were there.

Son and Husband went to the store to get some drinks for everyone.  Son talked to Ned on the phone; Ned said that The Ex had a migraine so he was going to take a drive and come over for a little bit.  Son said to Husband that The Ex knew they'd been in and out of the apartment for the last 2 days, but she hadn't come by; he said he wished she would have come seen their new place.

While they were gone, Girlfriend made a comment that she thought it was funny that we'd driven almost 2 hours to come see them and their new place, but The Ex hadn't even come over yet.  Daughter made a laughing/coughing noise, as in "No kidding, Mom can't be bothered to visit."

Ned showed up, we all said hi to him.  He was his quiet, nerdy self.  As he was leaving, Girlfriend was holding the baby and told him, "Say, 'Bye Uncle [Ned]...I mean, Grandpa [Ned]!'" and then she apologized for her misstep.  Ned brushed it off with a joke and then left.

We went to Walmart, got some more stuff for their apartment, and got some stuff for the other kids.  Son and Girlfriend said that The Ex had offered to give them a set of dishes that she had; they found some at Walmart that they liked.  Husband and I said we didn't want to start anything, but if they liked those better then we'd buy them.  Husband asked Son if he wanted the ones that The Ex was going to give them; Son said, "No, those are ugly." (Um...I mean, they kind of are.  I've seen them in the past.  They're not the prettiest but hey, when it's free you take what you can get.)

Then we stopped at McDonald's and got dinner.  Husband and I sat with Girlfriend and the baby, while our four kids ran around the Play Place like a bunch of toddlers.  It was nice to have them all together again.

We got back to their apartment, unpacked some of the stuff we had bought.  Girlfriend came up to me and gave me hug, thanking me for us helping them and visiting.  A little while later, Son hugged Husband and said thank you to him too.  Then he came over, hugged me, and said, "Thanks for everything, Mom."

  Damnit, now I'm crying ❤
