THAT'S UPSETTING.
This past weekend, Son and Daughter were supposed to go to The Ex's. Friday afternoon around 3pm, Son messaged The Ex on Facebook and asked if she could pick him up on Saturday instead. The Ex didn't answer, so Son called her and they talked for just under 2 minutes. Son then messaged me and asked if he could drive himself to The Ex's on Saturday and if not, he'd just stay here this weekend. (We had this conversation four months ago as to why Son would not be taking his vehicle to The Ex's house. You can read it here.)
Son then messaged her and said he guessed he was staying here. The Ex then decided that she would reply:
"I can't pick you up tomorrow. I work until 5pm and [Ned] has his party tomorrow. (Ned and his friend have thrown a joint party for like, fourteen years now. You can read about last year's party here and here.)
R u driving up then? (Uh, no. You told him that he "didn't need his license," remember?)
Wht don't u invite friends over here. (As my friend stated, "And if he did, where are they going to stay? In her 'spacious' home?" Ned's house is less than 1,000 square feet and there are currently four adults and three kids living there, not counting Son and Daughter.) They can go to [Ned's annual party] too" (Yeah, because that's what teenage boys want to do on the weekend - hang out with their friend's mom's dorky fiance and his friends.)
Son didn't respond to any of what she said and stayed here. The next day, he asked The Ex to send back his dress pants with Daughter; The Ex read it and didn't answer. Son then asked her not to forget because he's taking a girl to homecoming. Six hours later:
"I'll try not too. (*to) So pants and shoes???"
Son replied that yes, that was what he wanted.
Six hours after that conversation, The Ex messaged him again:
"U missed a good party (Well apparently, so did you. You had to work until 5pm.)
Wishing you were here
Hope you had a good day
Love u sweetie
Please BE here the weekend of the 12th. It's [The Ex's son's] birthday party that weekend."
Son replied not to forget his stuff for homecoming and said he would be there for his brother's party. The Ex replied:
"REALLY. THAT'S UPSETTING" (Ummm....?? It's upsetting that he keeps reminding her not to forget his stuff? It's upsetting that he will be there for the party? It's upsetting that he gave you a short answer? What are you even mad about?!)
Son replied, "Luv you" and The Ex ignored him.
Sunday afternoon, The Ex's parents dropped off Daughter about 2 hours early because she was at work and her dad didn't want to wait around all day. Son wasn't aware of this so he messaged The Ex around the time they usually left, asking if she had the pants. The Ex replied:
"I hope they do...I was working. Got home at 3pm they were already gone"
Now that he has his car back, he's hanging out with his friends, and a girl is interested in him, I'm wondering if Son is going to grow a pair and tell The Ex that he doesn't want to live with her anymore. Now THAT would make for an interesting blog post...
